“The Vision Care Revolution Starts Here” was the slogan under which 20/20 Mexico magazine, published by Creative Latin Media, organized the Summit VisionyOptica™ 2026. The event lived up to that expectation: from August 20 to 22, more than 2,000 attendees gathered at ExpoReforma, CDMX, to participate in a unique gathering, where industry representatives, academics, and professionals from the fields of eye care and the optical industry came together with the goal of collaborating to advance eye health in Mexico.
Organized by Creative Latin Media’s 20/20 Mexico and its digital counterpart, VisionyOptica, the Summit was directed by Sergio Plotnicoff, Managing Director of Creative Latin Media, with academic accreditation from the Universidad Autónoma de La Laguna (UAL) and sponsorship from Vision Expo. The academic program was architected by Dr. Patricia García, Academic Director of the Summit.
The event carries a direct line back to Jobson. “20/20 América Latina was launched precisely at Expo Reforma 34 years ago under Jobson
Publishing,” said Juan Carlos Plotnicoff, Publisher Emeritus of 20/20 Mexico. “Bob S. Amato, Jobson’s president at the time, was in attendance, and he would be very proud to see his legacy reflected in Summit VisionyOptica.”
The event stood out for its exceptional coordination of collaborations from various sectors of the visual health field, both in Mexico and internationally. This combined effort helped create a solid, enriching, and high-impact experience for all attendees. For this reason, we express our most sincere gratitude to each of the individuals, institutions, and companies that made this edition possible.
We thank the more than 40 participating companies—including sponsors and exhibitors in the Opal, Amber, and Obsidian categories—for helping to create a major trade show and for supporting attendees’ professional development through conferences and workshops. We also extend our gratitude to Vision Expo, a strategic partner of the event, as well as to our colleagues at Vision Monday, our sister magazine.

We thank Salvador González Guerrero, director of the Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry program at the Universidad Autónoma de la Laguna, for granting the event’s academic endorsement. We also acknowledge Haide Ambriz Padilla, M.A., and her group of young students from the Bachelor’s Program in Communication and Journalism at the same university, who supported coverage of the event both in the @visionyoptica publications and on their @vocesdeldesierto program.
In the academic sphere, the event offered a unique, experiential program featuring innovative initiatives such as the University Forum, the “Voces de la Optometría” program, and the Summit’s first Clinical and Entrepreneurship Poster Contest. We also extend our gratitude to the 44 speakers who, over the course of three days, shared their knowledge and inspired the audience: 33 opinion leaders from Mexico, 5 from Colombia, 2 from Ecuador, 2 from the United States, 1 from Guatemala, and 1 from Costa Rica. We also thank Álvaro Alcalá, who led the INFOLAB program, as well as Dr. Katherine González and José Nery Ordóñez for their special collaboration in organizing and executing the event.
One of the most significant features of this edition of the Summit was the leading role played by the younger generations. Their participation not only enriched the event’s dynamics but also demonstrated the strength, commitment, and fresh perspective with which young professionals and students are beginning to transform the future of visual health.

In this spirit, the support provided by the group of young journalists from the Universidad Autónoma de la Laguna—composed of students from its Communication program and members of Voces del Desierto: Emmanuel Puente, Marcela Valdés Castorena, Silvana Ocón, and Bárbara González—was particularly noteworthy. Their participation contributed to the coverage of the event with enthusiasm, sensitivity, and a fresh, renewed perspective on communication.
Also particularly valuable was the presence of three optometry students from UNAM—Gabriela Carrillo Robles, Monserrat Agundiz González, and Jair Oscar Rios Ayala—who coordinated the academic schedule in the conference rooms and workshops. And to complement this same vision, a group of content creators and optometry professionals—including Jiovanny Jiménez, Alex De la Rosa, Fernanda Cornejo, Keith Leboreiro, Arturo Manuel, Roberto Luna, and Sofia Torres—joined the event. Recognized for their ethical and responsible work on social media, their participation reaffirmed that the future of the sector is also built on communication, innovation, and young leadership.
With this youthful, diverse, and committed energy, the Summit VisionyOpticaTM 2026 has planted a powerful vision: the revolution in eye health is built not only on knowledge, innovation, and industry, but also on new voices ready to learn, lead, and transform. This gathering marks just the beginning of a journey that will continue to grow; that is why, starting today, we look forward with enthusiasm to 2027, confident that the next edition will bring more ideas, more partnerships, and more opportunities to continue driving the future of eye health in Mexico and Latin America together.
Creative Latin Media is already building the next edition which will take place in August 2027. Exhibitor and sponsorship conversations are open now for brands that want early positioning at Latin America’s largest optical and ophthalmic gathering.
